Readers might understandably think that the picture is from the final audition for Daniel Craig’s successor as 007. But no, it is the Henfield Walking Football Group. For the last few years we have been meeting every Monday morning to work the excesses of the weekend out of our aching joints. We have a lot of laughs (mainly at each other’s expense), pretend that we have still “got it” and try to relive the glory years from the distant past.
Walking football is a great way to have some exercise but it’s important for us that it is not taken too seriously especially given the number of Brighton and Chelsea fans within the group!
We play indoors at the Henfield Leisure Centre at 9:30am on Monday mornings and we always welcome more players. There is no need to book, just come along and have a go. There is never any pressure to play every week and the age range is roughly between 50 and 70. During the rest of the week we keep in touch via WhatsApp and we will try to have a few social events this year.
The group really are a great bunch of guys and always welcome newcomers regardless of age or ability so why not join us one Monday morning and give it a try.
