This year’s renewal of the Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby Meeting will take place from 20 – 23 June.
First held in 1961, the Al Shira’aa Hickstead Derby is one of the most historic classes in showjumping. Expect thrills and spills as this year’s competitors tackle the fearsome course, which includes the 10ft 6in slope of the Derby Bank and the notoriously difficult Devil’s Dyke combination.
The show also hosts several international and national jumping classes, as well as showing and scurry driving. With so much to see each day, it’s little wonder it is regarded as one of the most popular events in the horse world.
Aside from the fantastic sporting action, there’s plenty to keep every member of the family entertained, with a large shopping village offering everything from handmade gifts and fashion to food and country essentials, as well as family entertainment, including a funfair.
There’s a wide range of bars and eateries, from street food vendors, various bars, and restaurants, as well as a range of hospitality options that overlook the famous International Arena.
Everyone is welcome, including well behaved dogs (must be kept on a lead).
