Premier Showing – Tracing the Rails Episode 4: Henfield to Partridge Green

Saturday 11th October 2025 at 18:00–21:30

We’re delighted to invite you to the Premier Showing of Tracing the Rails – Episode 4: Henfield to Partridge Green, at Henfield Hall, Coopers Way, BN5 9EQ, on Saturday 11th October 2025.

This feature-length film explores the stretch of the Steyning Line that once linked Henfield to Partridge Green, uncovering fascinating stories of life, change, and survival. Central to this episode is the mystery of Henfield’s sand pits—once a vital local industry, now hidden in plain sight. From these forgotten quarries to the great brick arches where livestock once crossed beneath the line, each scene reveals how the railway reshaped village life.

The film also journeys into wartime history. We explore pillboxes built to defend against invasion and the huge bomb crater at Betley Bridge, a dramatic reminder of the line’s strategic role in WWII. Along the way, local memories and archaeological finds uncover how farms like Pokerlee and Brookside were altered forever by the coming of the railway.

Expect breathtaking visuals, drone footage, and engaging storytelling from our presenters Stephen Cranford, Mike Jaimes, and Chris Bedford, bringing history to life with warmth and detail.
