Another new planning application has been submitted to Horsham District Council for the change of use of agricultural land at The Slips, West End Lane, Henfield. The application (reference DC/25/0519) seeks permission for:
> “The stationing of caravans for five gypsy and traveller pitches, with five associated dayrooms, hard and soft landscaping, and parking.”
Given the potential significance of this proposal for our parish, Henfield Parish Council’s Plans Advisory Committee will be discussing the application at their next public meeting:
🗓 Thursday 3rd July 🕖 7:00 PM 📍 Henfield Village Hall
Impact on Henfield
Henfield has already seen a disproportionately high number of traveller pitches approved in recent years compared to neighbouring areas. This latest application, if approved, would significantly increase that number. When considered alongside the second Furners Lane application - currently under appeal - the total number of traveller pitches within the parish would more than double. The site wasn't included in the current Henfield Neighbourhood Plan.

This raises important questions about the cumulative impact of such developments on local infrastructure, road safety, and the wider rural character of the area. This broader context must be recognised when decisions are made.
Let your voice be heard.
We (Hands off Henfield) encourage you to attend the meeting this Thursday to share your views and hear more about the proposal. Your input could be vital in helping the Parish Council shape its formal response to Horsham District Council.
