We are the Henfield branch of the BP (Baden Powell) Guild, a nationwide organisation of which Henfield is the largest regional group. We are a friendly, like-minded group of individuals who enjoy being able to give something back to our local community.
The Henfield B-P Guild is very active organising many fund-raising activities, including taking Santa around the village at Christmas time and helping Santa deliver presents to children on Christmas Day. We also hire and erect marquees, run jumble sales and provide barbecues at events such as the village Summer Fayre.
The monies raised are all used for good causes in and around the local area. We particularly support youth organisations based in the village such as the Scouts, Guides, Youth Club and on occasion, youngsters from these organisations who are seeking to raise sponsorship to undertake projects in developing countries.
One main annual event we run is our Senior Citizens Outing and Dinner. We arrange to take up to 150 senior citizens on a coach trip to a mystery location, before returning to the Henfield Hall for a freshly prepared four course meal, cooked and presented by the Henfield B-P Guild. Entertainment is also arranged.
We also organise the erection and decoration of the donated Christmas tree in the Village Square each year.
Sometimes, we just lend a helping hand behind the scenes to other groups and individuals in and around the village.
We meet monthly, on the first Thursday of the month, at the Guide hut in Staples Barn, to discuss general business matters. We also enjoy a healthy social scene with many differing activities and camaraderie.
Membership fees are £10 annually. New members are very welcome.
