Hilary Williams leads this study day on 17th Century Dutch Art and Architecture

Hilary Williams, formerly a curator and Print Room Superintendent at The British Museum, is now the Art History Education Officer in the Department of Learning and National Partnerships at the Museum, for whom she lectures. Hilary's study day will give the structure on which to base an understanding of why it was called "The Golden Age". It will cover the centres of Dutch art and introduce key artists in their centre (Hals in Haarlem, Honthorst in Utrecht, Vermeer in Delft, Dou in Leiden, Rembrandt in The Hague and Amsterdam), She will discuss the genres; Landscape (Ruisdael to Hobbema); and Italian warmth compared with the cold climate of Holland.
