Hundreds gathered at the Henfield War Memorial in Cagefoot Lane on Sunday 10 November to commemorate those who died in all the wars. The start and finish of the silence was marked by a lone bugler, local people paid their respects as the names of Henfield men who died during WWI and WWII were read by Mike Morgan, Parish Councillor and organiser of the remembrance ceremonies.
Prior to the ceremony at Cagefoot Lane, the Brighton and Hove Brass Band led a parade to St Peter’s Church for a service of remembrance before returning to the War Memorial. Brownies, Guides, Cubs, Scouts, Beavers and Rainbows marched proudly with their standards, as well as Parish Councillors, ex-service people and Church leaders.
Representatives from local organisations, churches, political groups and youth groups laid wreaths.
