A new Vicar for Henfield

21st March 2014

The three Churches are very much looking forward to welcoming Rev'd Paul and Jan Doick to the parish very soon. Here's a few words from Rev'd Paul.

"Hello! Jan and I are both very excited about moving to Henfield and joining the parishes that make up the benefice. Many people have told me how great Henfield is as a place, and also just how much the three churches are at the centre of their respective parish communities. So I’m really looking forward to leading them in this next chapter in their history as together we seek to discover how God is calling us to serve one another and the local village communities.

"We are very much looking forward to getting to know you all in the months to come but first as a brief introduction: I grew up locally in Worthing and apart from a two year stint at theological college have lived in Sussex all my life. On leaving school I began a 16 year career in banking and finance, first in various branches of Natwest and then within the invoice finance division of HSBC where I entered management and completed my career in the Client Audit department. I was responsible for staff training, risk management and high level client audits.

"Having been involved in my local Church (St Andrew, West Tarring in Worthing) in the choir, as an altar server, on the PCC and running the youth group, I finally listened to God’s call and in 2003 began study for ordination at Ripon College Cuddesdon. I was ordained in 2005 to a curacy in the Hove team ministry and stayed on as Team Vicar and then incumbent of St John’s from 2009. Jan and I married in April 2012, she is a legal secretary working full time at a large firm of solicitors in Worthing. We both like travelling, especially to Italy where we love the food; we love to socialise and to take walks in the country and by the sea. Together we enjoy cinema and musical theatre. And I also love reading, and when I get the chance watching science fiction movies or going to watch Sussex play cricket. With best wishes, Rev’d Paul and Jan Doick."
