Congratulations to Ilidia Campbell, Henfield's multi-marathon runner who has once again completed the London Marathon and the Brighton Marathon, this time in aid of MND (Motor Neurone Disease Association). MND helps with care, research and campaigning on behalf of those who suffer with this crippling disease.
Ilidia is a familiar face in Henfield, she’s a receptionist at Henfield Medical Centre, where patients and staff have once again been incredibly supportive in helping her to raise money. Her total currently stands at £800.
She is a member of the Henfield Joggers and has been running marathons and half marathons for the last 18 years for various causes, including Henfield Medical Centre, Well Child, the Stroke Association and the Alzheimer’s Society. Although she’s never counted how much she’s raised over the years, but we've estimated that it’s likely to be in excess of £20,000.
“I had the most incredible day on Sunday, I was so pleased to complete in 3hours 53mins. One of my daughters Heather came to support me and the other, Fiona, managed to track me on the internet from Australia! Once again people have been incredible and the response to my fundraising request has been overwhelming. Staff, friends and patients at Henfield Medical Centre never fail to support me. Huge thanks to everyone!”
This year she also acted as ‘pacer’ in this year's Brighton half and full Marathons. She said; “With all the attention I’ve had with people congratulating me I feel like Paula Radcliffe!”
