With beautifully festive shop windows, twinkling lights and Christmas carols, Henfield High Street pulled-out all the stops to make sure the 2017 Christmas Shopping Evening was a truly magical event!
Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without tradition and there was plenty of that on the night. The BP Guild had Santa’s sleigh on display whilst the man himself made himself comfortable in his Youth Club grotto and handed out gifts. The ever popular High Street Sheep Trail made a return as did the children’s funfair. But new traditions were also started - the gorgeous Christmas Tree Festival at the Evangelical Free Church was a massive sparkling success!
Festive nibbles and warming drinks were in plentiful supply as the High Street shops opened their doors and welcomed shoppers in from the cold to browse their special offers and seasonal gifts. And there was plenty of food and drink on offer from the High Street hostelries, café’s and pop-up street food vendors.
And of course, not forgetting the Big BN5 Christmas Draw! We were kept busy all evening selling the last remaining raffle tickets and then holding the draw itself, as well as a lively auction later on in the White Hart. The current fundraising total stands at £6,300 for the Brain Tumour Charity through the tremendous generosity of local businesses and residents. More to follow next month.
The Henfield Christmas Evening is one of many village events organised by the Henfield Community Partnership together with the Henfield Parish Council, the Henfield Traders Association and BN5 Magazine - all working together to celebrate and promote our brilliant High Street. Thank you for coming everyone!
