There will be Morris Men dancing, musicians playing, arts and crafts on show, food and refreshments available in many private gardens and community spaces. Whilst in the village you might also wish to explore our village’s Heritage Trail and High Street businesses. Our gardens include large lawns with herbaceous borders and small terraces with patio pots, traditional planting and contemporary designs, ponds and vegetable plots. The owners are present in the gardens so take the opportunity to share ideas and tips from their gardens. If the visit inspires you perhaps we will see your Henfield garden open next year!
Entry to venues is free of charge, although some owners may use the opportunity to collect for their preferred charities. In past years the Festival has raised approximately £9,000 each year for both local and national charities. In addition, many gardens have plants and garden related items on sale. Some will be cash payment only. The arts and crafts on display includes paintings and drawings in many media, as well as photography, sculpture, textiles (such as crochet, patchwork and quilting), mosaics and glasswork. Some may be available for purchase either in the gardens themselves or our community venues.
Live music plays a large part in our festival with talented musicians and vocalists performing in gardens and community venues. There will be a splendid finale to the Festival at Red Oaks with the Unreel Ceilidh Band and a bar.
There is an easy-to-use map that can also be downloaded and printed. The Festival blue booklets are available at local retailers as well as places such as the Henfield Hall, the Library, The Haven and local garden centres. During the Festival our information point at ‘Gallery BN5’ in the High Street will also have blue booklets so it is a good place to start your tour and find answers to questions.
Remember that there is free parking in both Henfield village car parks and High Street public conveniences will be open over the weekend.
