Henfield Football Club donates £1k to Foodbank

24th August 2023

Earlier this summer Henfield Football Club donated a massive £1,000 to the Horsham and District Food Bank. The money was donated in the form of £25 vouchers for Sainsbury’s supermarket and will go to support local vulnerable families in Henfield.

The money was raised through the ‘Big Festive Prize Draw’ in the run up to Christmas 2022. The success of the this raffle was down to the support of nearly 30 local Henfield and Sussex businesses who all donated wonderful prizes, as well as parents and grandparents of many of the youth players who also supported the raffle by both donating prizes and purchasing raffle tickets.

Some of the amazing prizes offered included a £250 Tesco voucher, a signed and framed Lewis Dunk football shirt, a current signed Brighton & Hove Albion Football Club team shirt and a barrow-full of festive booze.

Joe Penfold, co-chair of Henfield Football Club, said: “We are really pleased to have been able to make a big donation to the Horsham and District food Bank to help people in the Henfield community. We are incredibly grateful to all the wonderful local businesses and people who supported our fundraising efforts to help make this happen.”

This donation is just one of the many ways in which Henfield Football Club supports the local Henfield community through its ‘Score Some Smiles’ campaign which is now in its third year. Other youth team activities last year included making Christmas cards and festive ‘jolly jars’ for residents at local care homes. A huge thank you to the managers, coaches, volunteers and everyone else behind the scenes at the Club for all of your hard work.
