Over the weekend of June 14th-16th, 1st Henfield Scout Group held its biggest and most exciting camp in years, at our regular stomping grounds – Hillside Scout Campsite in Small Dole.
This epic camp, that has been in the planning since October 2023, brought together over 100 enthusiastic young people from the group, along with a dedicated team of 30 volunteer parents, all committed to ensuring a safe and action-packed adventure for young people.
While Mother Nature threw some curveballs with strong winds and heavy rain on Saturday morning, the spirit of the Scouts (and their trusty tents!) remained high and mess tents stayed anchored! Thanks to quick thinking and a flexible plan, all activities continued as planned – a true testament to the Scouts' resilience!
This camp welcomed all sections of the group: Scouts (10-14 years), Cubs (8-10 years) and Beavers (6-8 years) who enjoyed overnight camping adventures filled with exciting daytime activities. Even our youngest Squirrels (4-5 years old) joined in the fun with a dedicated day packed with engaging activities.
From hikes and target practice with archery and shooting, to the timeless joy of campfire singalongs and mastering fire-lighting skills, the camp offered something for everyone.
1st Henfield Scout Group extends a massive thank you to everyone involved in making this camp a resounding success. It was a weekend of learning new skills, making new friendships, conquering fears and most importantly having fun!
