The 1st Henfield Scout Group joined forces with Sustainable Henfield 2030 for a fantastic day on 9th June, participating in the nationwide #TheBigHelpOut project.
Scouts of all ages, from the youngest Squirrels (ages 4-5) to the experienced Explorers (14-18), got their hands dirty alongside parents and adult volunteers. Together, they built a new bug house and hibernaculum for wildlife, installed fresh birdhouses, maintained the dead hedge (a habitat for wildlife) and conducted a thorough litter pick – all within the Henfield Community Orchard.
This nationwide initiative aims to raise awareness of volunteering and provide opportunities for people to give back to their communities. Originally planned as a cornerstone of the King's Coronation, The Big Help Out has now become an annual event coinciding with his official birthday.
A special thank you goes to Tony from Sustainable Henfield for volunteering his time and expertise to assist the Scouts on this impactful day.
