Henfield Weekly Market

The popular and thriving indoor Henfield Weekly Market meets every Monday morning, (except on Bank Holidays) from 9am to 1pm.

Its stallholders are a really friendly and lively bunch, selling a wonderful range of items, always with good humour. There’s Les with lovely farm-fresh eggs, Rose who sells her homemade jams and chutneys for her cat charity Felines First, Carmel with great quality country-wear, footwear and unusual curios, and Sylvia’s fabrics, wools and ever popular repair service.

On the crafts side there is beautiful handmade jewellery by Viv and Anne, Jeanne’s quilts and memory bears, pretty decoupage items from another Viv, and Jane’s recycled glass and colourful handmade resin products. In addition, there are cookware and skincare products, a utilities consultant and a number of vintage stalls, with new stallholders regularly joining in on an ad-hoc basis.

Hosted by the market, Carol’s pop-up Boutique 35 has a regular following for her colourful Italian and French clothes and fashion accessories, while Sustainable Henfield visit once a month to keep everybody up to date with all the latest ecological ideas and local recycling possibilities.

The market is very much a part of the local community, contributing some £5,000 to local charities in its first two years. Funds are mainly raised from the sale of food and drink at market-sponsored special events and fairs, but also from charity auctions and a pop-up charity stall selling items donated by stallholders.

A meeting place for a good chat after the weekend, the Market Café provides hot drinks, breakfasts, scones and cakes. With easy parking outside the Hall, the Henfield Weekly Market is a really cheerful, centrally located communal facility, whatever the weather a Monday morning might bring!
