Partridge Green Players are excited to announce their June production of five one-act plays. Four of the plays were written by Robert Scott and they include three amusing pieces and one tense thriller.
'Plan B' has a husband and wife sitting despondently in a hospital A&E waiting room instead of spending an enjoyable evening together because the husband has hurt his hand and eye by spilling his attempt to cook spaghetti! A rather intrusive woman sits next to them in the waiting room and engages them in conversation with interesting results.
'A Charming Affair' is a mini-playlet starring Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty who find that they have more in common than they had thought.
A holiday visit to Spain by a married couple is marred not only by the non-stop rain but also by the delivery of a strange case which appears to belong to a spy. 'A Spy with a View' ends with a strange conclusion.
Finally, 'Checkmate' displays a couple at home playing a game of chess. Each is trying to outsmart the other with infidelity beneath the surface, but only one can reach checkmate.
Additionally, the Players have chosen 'Last Respects' by Colin Calvert. Set in a funeral parlour it has a deceased man's wife, his PA and his secretary sharing a bottle of champagne with the funeral director at the request of the dead man, whose body is lying in the open casket. All the hidden truths emerge.
The plays are being cast under the umbrella name of 'Shocks and Surprises' because nothing is quite as it seems at the start. The plays will be performed by arrangement with Lazy Bee Scripts.
Tickets will go on sale from 16 May purchased online from Ticketsource.
